Seeking Simplicity
Seeking Simplicity
Simplify seems to be a word that is swirling around my mind.
Perhaps a word to hold close in 2022?
The Christmas excrements—toys, books, boxes—are still surrounding me and the book edits still loom but instead I tackle cabinets.
Not just any cabinets, the cabinets that have become the most unruly in my life.
Three trash bins of stuff later and it seems there is still MORE STUFF.
Oh the abundance of it all.
The thing about getting rid of things is that it seems just as you have convinced yourself to throw something out, there is still more surrounding you than you thought. And so I plod on, all the while the worry about the things I’m throwing out and taking care of mother earth conflicts with the overwhelmed feeling of being buried in piles of things I’m keeping just to keep them out of landfills.
Worry always a few thoughts away.
But today I’m enjoying the freedom in letting go
of the worry
and the things
and chasing the simplicity of less.
